Boutique Luxury in Munich

February 21, 2015

We’ve always been a big fan of boutique hotels on city breaks; that extra bit of comfort and attention goes a long way when you’re rushing around with increasingly tired feet! So, we were really excited to find Cortiina Hotel in Munich for our stop over in the city last week.

Cortiina sits in a perfect location, just a one to two minute walk from Marienplatz, the central bustling square of Munich. Despite it being in a central location, we found parking at the hotel really easy. We  simply left the car outside the hotel and dropped the keys off with the concierge who then parked it for us in their private garage overnight. On our arrival at the hotel we were met by the friendliest staff who spent time giving us some good tips on the best sites to see and possible dining options for the evening.

We stayed in a Deluxe Double room that sat on the corner of the hotel, overlooking the streets of central Munich. It was a luxurious room with separate living area, sleeping area, kitchenette (with hob, dishwasher and sink), and a beautifully spacious bathroom with doors that opened out to take in the rest of the apartment.

If you’re planning on staying in Munich for a few nights, we would highly recommend a Deluxe Double room, simply for the space and “homely” feel it provides with the lounge and kitchen area. In fact, we loved the room so much, we decided to order room service in the evening rather than go out just to make the most of the cosy space!

The room service was delicious (we treated ourselves to an apple and walnut risotto and burger and chips!) but there is also a lovely restaurant to enjoy downstairs if you don’t feel like venturing too far! After stuffing our bellies, we snuggled down on the comfy sofas and put our feet up (it had been a very, very busy few days!) I (Claire) got so carried away with the luxury of the room, I even had a bubble bath, which is unheard of for me in a hotel room! The room also came with a Bose bluetooth speaker so we were able to play our own music whilst we relaxed. It really felt like  a home away from home!

One of the highlights of this hotel is their delicious breakfast! Bleary eyed and a little grumpy from knowing we were flying home that night, the cute presentation of this breakfast instantly woke us up and put a smile on our faces. Little jam jars of fruit, mini jam doughnuts, and an impressive selection of meats and cheeses were just a few things on offer, alongside the option of pancakes or eggs (we went with the pancakes!) Yum!

Our only regret from staying in this hotel is that we didn’t stay longer! Cortiina Hotel is the perfect place to stay when visiting Munich. With a great location, friendly staff, cosy and luxurious rooms and delicious food, we couldn’t have asked for more! This hotel comes highly recommended from us if you’re visiting this wonderful city!
