Accessorising with Fossil

When it comes to writing about fashion, we tend to leave it to those knowledgeable fashion bloggers. Whilst they are busy documenting their latest hauls or carefully curated wardrobes, we’re sat wondering why the latest ‘Mom’ jeans make us look more like Diane Keaton in ‘Father of the Bride’, than east London trendsetters.

For years, we’ve religiously (yet largely unsuccessfully), followed fashion trends: walking around like oversized toddlers in denim dungarees; squeezing into high-waisted jeans; tugging self-consciously at our cropped tops and schlepping around in double denim.

Following the fashion parade is hard work.

As we’ve got older, and with the realisation that the ‘boyfriend’ look is only ever going to result in us looking like the long-lost members of Bananarama, we’ve become more selective with our purchases: buying from brands who are less occupied with fickle fashion trends and more mindful of producing classic, timeless pieces.

A brand who are showing us how this is done is  Fossil: a creative bunch who realised early on that vintage never gets old. Creating ‘beautiful things for interesting people’ has always been their mission, with the intention that their carefully crafted accessories would accompany the world’s curious on some of their greatest adventures. Their latest campaign: ‘Calling all Curious’, is aimed at people who want to see more, explore more, ask more questions and live a little – not waste time worrying about the embarrassingly over-sized crotch area created by the ‘Mom’ jean.

Fossil are, in short, a brand after our own heart.  Offering beautiful travel accessories – including carefully embossed leather luggage and delicate, ethically-produced jewellery – this is a brand perfect for those who prefer the timeless over the faddy; the classic cut over the boyfriend style.

This summer,  therefor we’re more than excited to team up with this curious gang of adventure seekers, taking their beautiful accessories with us on our own curious adventures. Below are a selection of some of our favourite pieces!

These bracelets are part of the ‘Fossil x Me to We’ collaboration, created in partnership with Fossil designers and Kenyan artisans. Created using traditional methods, passed down from Mother to Daughter, these bracelets are colourful, vibrant and most importantly, empowering: providing female artisans within the Kenyan community with the financial literacy and leadership training tools to build savings, support a family, and gain a voice as a leader within their local town or village. Even better, Fossil offer a ‘Track your Impact’  tool, allowing you to see exactly where your purchase has made a difference.

We love a backpack, especially when rushing around an airport or carrying heavy photography equipment. This Preston backpack has been my best friend this summer and (whispers) is also now on sale. Hurry!

Another beautiful addition to our luggage collection, Claire recently took this lovely Jules Satchel on her honeymoon, parading it proudly around the Amalfi Coast. Lucky bag.

We love a bit of colour co-ordination and this gorgeous watch matches our backpack perfectly (we also have tiny wrists and they still fit, which rarely happens!)

This classic passport holder, made of the softest neutral leather, is one of our favourite travel accessories. The subtly embroidered airplane pattern is a beautiful touch and inside is plenty of room to store your money and bank cards.

We’re can’t wait to take these lovely things on our adventures this summer; ditching the latest trends for a bit of iconic vintage style. Who said this fashion thing had to be so hard?!

Thank you, Fossil, for making fashion so easy (without a shred of double denim in sight).
